Teacher of ESL Students Wrote the Book on How To Teach
English Online America
(HowToTeachEnglishOnline.com) March 05, 2009 – John
Buchanan started his career in Japan by working for a
large English school. He taught ESL (English as a Second
Language) to students all over Japan via the Internet
by using a microphone, a web camera, and sophisticated
software allowing them to carry out English lessons in
real time. This experience gave him the idea to become self-employed
by using Skype (a free online instant messaging and video
chat program). After successfully creating his website,
EnglishKitty.com and attracting far-away online students
from countries like Korea, Russia, Turkey and Spain,
he is now sharing his experiences in this new multimedia
field of education.
Buchanan wrote the e-book, “How to Teach English
Online and Get Money.” It's designed to assist
English teachers step-by-step on the how-to's of creating
a website, finding global ESL students, selling package
deals of English lessons to them, conducting the online
lessons, and increasing new and repeat business.
The e-book was created in March of 2008,
and over 1,000 copies have been downloaded from its
website, HowToTeachEnglishOnline.com.
The e-book comes with additional files to help organize
and streamline the teacher's online school. These files
are entitled, “The Free Package Deal for Teachers.”
The author also makes himself accessible to teachers
on Skype by conducting consultations that cover the e-book.
Teachers can also role play a mock lesson with Buchanan
so as to practice using Skype and to feel comfortable
in selling lessons to prospective students in the near
future.
Buchanan is excited about the evolving technologies
that make finding and teaching ESL students online even
easier. The partnership of computers, the Internet, and
English teaching will develop and expand together in
further connecting foreign learners with native English
speakers/teachers.
Students mainly want native English speakers, so no
experience is necessary. This is a new online opportunity
for many English speakers.
